GLAMPING ISLAND EXPERIENCE

Whatever your reason, be it to rest, write a book, have a family reunion, or a honeymoon, we bring you an island that will be yours for the time you want. There are no fine prints.

We offer a simple but nicely furnished safari tent accommodation for your desert island glamping experience. White sands, turquoise waters, and a hammock between two coconut trees await.

We ensure you leave your city life behind and embrace the off-the-grid silence. This desert island glamping offers the perfect environment to relax, regenerate, enjoy peace, recharge, and appreciate life’s simple pleasures.

The nearest village is 8km away; there's definitely nobody around to bother you.

Choose to do what you want: forget about time and do nothing, or snorkel, swim, paddle, fish, kayak, read a book or island hop.

We also believe in enhancing your experience, so a cook and an island carer can be inconspicuously at your service; but it’s your call.

The decision on how long you want to stay is up to you: the Island is yours!

Tonga isn't just a country in the South Pacific; it's one of the last Kingdoms in the world. Made up of 174 islands, only 36 of which are inhabited by 100,000 people, it stays true to its traditions and is proud of having never been colonised. As the Tongans say, it's the last True Pacific island, and with this private island offering, you won’t disagree.

Good to Know About This Desert Island Glamping Experience

The Tongan climate is very nice. It comprises mostly of 2 seasons: a Rainy Season from December to April, during which it is quite buggy and temperatures rise above 32°C (89.6°F). And a much cooler period called Dry Season from May to November where temperatures rarely go above 27°C (80.6°F). The sunshine is moderate but can be very intense and the average humidity can is around 75%. We travel to Tonga outside of the Cyclone season (Mostly January to March). But heavy rains and cloudy days are common early and late in the year. During the dry season, nights can be fresh and the ocean cool.
Made of 174 islands in 4 archipelagos Tonga is not a very mountainous country. Central and Southern islands are ‘flatter’ than the northern archipelagos. To the exception of a couple of straight of the water volcanoes that make the rule. Our glamping island is in the most southern archipelago off Tongatapu. Our island is 7m above sea level. Daily tides can change significantly the shape of the island. This is also the case during seasons where sand banks, waves or current transform the island.
While with us we will try to introduce you as much as possible to traditional tongan cuisine. Which includes fish (cooked or raw), ground oven dishes (veggies and/or meat), open fire roast (particularly pig), and a lot of coconut base sauces, root crops and tropical fruits (mostly from the island).

While in town in Nuku’alofa or at a resort: you eat at restaurants, with International or local food.

While on our Island: traditional fresh food cooked or not.
While on the main island, in Town or in the country side: private mini van, taxis.

To the Islands: sail boat or motor boat
Expect serenity in a Tropical South Pacific paradise.
Sit beside a campfire, listen and share stories, swim in crystal-clear waters, kayak and snorkel among colourful fish, sip a drink under the stars watch the ambers scatter in the dark.
Off the grid is the norm, and silence is loud.
Be hot during the day and fresh at night.
Come as a guest, leave as family
Arrive with shoes, forget them in minutes.
Forget your bankcard code and that you even needed money or had a wallet once.
we do know that upon leaving you will seriously consider making an offer to buy the island.

If you decide to come during the Whale Watching and Swimming (WWS) season which spans from July to October, we strongly encourage you to book you in an excursion to experience it.
Safety and security is paramount to our us.

We prepare for risks by minimising our exposure to them and by being very knowledgeable about our area but also using trusted and competent local teams to serve you.

The Kingdom of Tonga is a very calm place. There are hardly any political risks. There are limited human risks like in any other place around the world. The only real dangers come from the sea (sharks, sea snake, etc.), the weather (unforeseen storm), the 'unpredictable' (earthquake, tsunami, etc.) but also human attitudes (pub brawl, etc.). You will be briefed on all the above upon arrival.
There are no guides provided with this itinerary.

No internet or mobile phone network for 8 days.

No Medical on the island but only on the main island.

We can provide you with a cook and an island carer (who is also the boatman).
